Need help getting Drupal/PHP/MySQL to work with Yahoo Web Host

Although I have experience helping maintain servers, I am a complete newb to starting my own from scratch, so please bear with me.

I want to run Drupal on my Yahoo server, but they do not have Drupal listed as a possible CMS to install, so I was wondering if I can just make my site on my local machine, then upload it to Yahoo? I know that Drupal's site basically says just that, but here's where I'm a little confused:

If I make my site locally, do I install PHP/MySQL on my Yahoo server, or do I just upload those support files instead?

Should I install Drupal/PHP/MySQL inside of Apache on my local machine or just my regular project folder?

I also know about the smaller & more technical compatibility issues with Drupal & Yahoo, but I think I have those covered through crazy amounts of research.

    Thanks!

you have to have PHP & mySQL running on the server - you cant just copy the files up there.. Does Yahoo allow you to configure and run them?

No, they don't. I'm just trying everything I can to make this site work the way I want it to. I'm already cutting enough corners as it is, as I'm not a code guru yet, and I just want what little php I do know to work just fine...I don't want to have to worry if something I'm doing is version 4 or 5, because I don't really know how to tell the difference right now.

When I asked the guy on the phone that very question today, he said that the engineers at Yahoo are telling everyone that PHP is unstable. Now while I know that anyone who uses sloppy code in general can make any server insecure, but COME ON,,,,,they're Yahoo! I'm sure they can figure something out.

Yeah, tell me about it. I have my own sites going up on globat.com right now. It's not the very best at all (no free additional sub-domains, but who needs them anyway?), but I get to have php, mysql, drupal, htaccess, and my personal favorite, they actually honor the "unlimited storage space" that's stated in the ad. I've been turning my site into a private file server for mass distribution of software amongst my clients. The only drawback I can find is that I don't get to ssh into the server, but I've been finding some really creative ways to get the same things done without ssh.
