Is there anyone out there who is willing to take a look at my blog and help me tweak it to generate traffic? I just started educating myself with the internet and I feel that my blog is about 40% of the way there. Here are some things I don't get: Tags--what are they? How do they show up? BackTrack/BackLinks? Those little icon boxes with MyYahoo, MyAOL, etc etc... Anything else would be greatly appreciated. I find this forum full of people who are incredibly helpful. So I thank you in advance.

You need a distinct voice, perspective, sources of information, timeliness ... Richard
I recommend a couple of sites (by a few fellow aussies): www.problogger.net. www.entrepreneurs-journey.com Great as a starting point as well as ongoing 'tweaking'.
Thanks for the responses. I've discovered the two Australian blogs. But sometimes it's just incredibly difficult to know what people are talking about (especially if you've just begun this journey). Anyway, y'all are really helpful. Thanks.
I just started blogging about 3 months ago and have learned a lot through trial and error. First I would concentrate on writting 15 or 20 posts and finding a good theme for your blog so it looks the way you want it. Then I would sign up with a few blog directories (once you sign up they will give you some html code to copy and past into the sidebar of your blog). Check out my website (premiumposts.com) for some directories I have signed up with. If you intend to try and make money blogging than you will also want to sign up for a google adsense account. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I was going through the same thing you are going through now so I can help out if needed!
A couple of my newsletters deal with trackbacks and pingbacks so you might want to consider joining (see my signature below for the sign-up page). Those little icons are chicklets or widgets - basically a simple way to allow your visitors to subscribe to your blog using their RSS reader of choice (AOL/Yahoo/Bloglines/etc). It's good to offer these because they are one-click options that make it easy for people to keep coming back to your blog.
Hi Molly, I've had a decent sized blog for about six months now and it's mind-boggling the amount that I've learnt in that time and I still consider myself to be a n00b. The single most important lesson I've learnt in my blogging career is to try and be original and be unique. There's no point creating a blog that has the exact same content as a million other blogs out there. Concentrate on filling your blog full of entries that are interesting and not just there as a space filler. Feel free to PM me and I'll try and talk you through anything n00b to n00b. In simple terms, stuff you'll understand.
