I have a site: www.weddingstrategies.com I hired someone to convert it from a CMS system to wordpress. Before, at the top of each category index page we had an introductory paragraph explaining the section. The folks that converted the site to wordpress have set the intro paragraphs as posts. See example: At the bottom of this page notice the last post: http://weddingstrategies.com/category/ceremony-reception/catering-and-menus It is also mistakingly a post - see here: http://weddingstrategies.com/ceremony-reception/catering-and-menus/catering-and-menus.html I want this information at the top of the index page as an intro. How might I add this blurb (and separate blurbs of introduction) to each of the index category pages? It needs to be only on the first page of the category index page - at the top. Thank you
In wordpress you would have to rate the posts for the category to get the last post on the page at the top. I believe leaving the rating on that post at 0 and changing the others to 1 or higher will do what you want. By the way-- nice looking site. Looks like they did a great job for you. Q...
I'm not for sure if I'm totally understanding what you are trying to do. If you want a post to stay at the top of the page and never move, you can use this sticky plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-sticky/ If you need to order pages in WP you can use this plugin called my page order: http://geekyweekly.com/mypageorder Let me know if you need further help.
Thank you I am familiar with sticky but I do not think it will do what I want. I have a different paragraph written for each category. I want this paragraph only at the top of the individual category index page as an introduction. I do not want it to have the extra typical blog tags, share buttons, read more link, etc that blog posts have. As you can edit the main index / home page of wordpress, I wish that after you created a new category you could edit those individual index pages for each category.
