    Hi Everyone,

I would like to transfer my blog from blogger custom domain to wordpress(same domain). ie from xyz.com on blogger to xyz.com on wordpress.

    My question is:
Blogger has a permalink pattern like BlogURL/YYYY/MM/post-slug . Now while exporting it to wordpress, is it possible to have the same permalinks pattern for the post that were imported from blogger and different pattern(custom) for the new posts?? Or is it like I can choose only 1 permalinks pattern for all my posts?

btw If you have any other suggestions regarding this shift. Most Welcome.

    Hi there,

    1. All your permalinks would have the same structure under Wordpress.

    2. Yes. With Wordpress, you can set your permalinks to be yoursite.com/yyyy/mm/post-name. To do so, Go to Settings > Permalinks, then select the Month and name structure, and click Save changes to update Wordpress' permalink structure.

    That's it ;)

@Ikki, actually, it's a lot harder and the usual changing for the WP permalink structure won't do the trick, because the post slug at Blogger is transformed to (example): example-post-slug-here.html (.html at the end, trunctated to around 10-12 characters of the title) and with wordpress it's like: example-post-slug-here-in-full (no .HTML in the end, un-trunctated).

I am also still looking for a good working solution on this (transferring a blog from Blogger to Wordpress, while keeping the domain the same), and I've noticed that if you use the import feature in Wordpress, and import the Blogger blog, there is a Wordpress "custom field" added for each of the posts, called "blogger_permalink" and with value (example) "/2008/12/the-corresponding-post-title-here.html". I know that it can be used somehow to manipulate the permaling structure in Wordpress for those imported posts (and all other newer/older posts if it has to).

The only working solution I found right now is by manipulating the .htaccess file of your Wordpress blog and using 301 redirect for each post match to the corresponding new post location, to forward the visitors and search engines, but that is not a very comfortable solution with 200-300 posts imported...

    Any help?

Yes, that method actually worked. I've done a big research until I achieve to move my blog, but finally I did it. Still, the current permalink structure is at /month/date/post-slug.html, and not what I initially wanted (/category/post-slug), but it still does the job for now.
