Hi people here, I have been trying to build my own search engine. But am a newbie here. So i want some one to guide me or give some useful tips to build it. Also please mention what are the languages to be completely known or softwares to be known to develop the search engine. Because i could check it whether i have already know it or will try to learn it asap. If anyone can guide me in this, please pm or give your details here. I will contact you. Any help is most welcomed. I take this as a serious opportunity in learning things and i do not find any other place better than this to gain help.
Developing a search engine is a complex undertaking, and is not for the weak of heart or those just learning a new language. If you're looking to integrate a site search feature into your Web site, there are plenty of scripts available that will do that for you, and best of all most of them are free. If you're looking to develop a search engine SITE on the other hand, you can pretty much forget about finding an off the shelf script, unless you use GreyWyvern's OrcaSearch (which requires PHP and MySQL). And even then you'll likely have problems with the spider crawling sites at scheduled times, depending on how your server is configured and what permissions have been enabled for your account.
