I have a severe mental overload. Ive been on the internet since 1986 before the www was born. I have a very good working knowledge of all aspects of web design, but some simple things are creating a mental block.

I have the largest antique and vintage jewelry site on the internet with over 1300 unique items. Actually, I sold on other "host" sites for many years, and this spring I took the leap and went out on my own.

It was important for me to get the main frame site design done, transfer and load data, at which point I instantly hit a PR3 with no fine tuning. I have a world wide clientel and I needed my new site to be up a running for my existing clients.

In the past 4 months, Ive also spent a great deal of time submitting to quality directories and building links and keeping a fresh product feed up to date in Google Base (the old Froogle). This work will never end of course, and I know what I need to do in this area.

But this is where I need help : I have programs such as Alexis and Web CEO and I have tried to use them for site optimization, and I understand in general about the changes they suggest - but I am completely stumped when I actually try to implement changes.

My site should be hitting much higher for certain keywords like vintage jewelry, antique jewelry, art deco jewelry, sterling jewelry, costume jewelry, and more...... but I just cant seem to figure out EXACTLY HOW I need to make WHAT changes.

Im only trying to optimize my home page, and do so without creating a bunch of overzealous information to keep it clean looking.

Is anyone out there willing to take a look at my home page and make some suggestions ?

    Sincerely ~
    Veronica

    Hi Veronica,

Part of the problem is with the HTML and embedded JavaScript code on your Web site. There's so much code that's inline (and some that shouldn't be there) which is causing your keyword density to drop like a rock off the Empire State Building - oh heck, I'm from the Chicago area, let's make it the Sears Tower instead). Bear in mind that while I do have quite a knack for SEO, I'm a freelance developer by trade, and the invalid HTML code (and the use of deprecated - obsolete - HTML code is a bit of a problem, though the search engines really don't care too much about it since they're not grammer or semantics Nazi police, they just have to wade through it to get to your content).

I'm not at home right now, but if you can wait until I return, I'll be more than happy to create a new Web page skin (free of charge) that should clean up the clutter and help improve the density of the keywords on your page (without altering how it looks). It'll basically be a cleaner page with less code that gets the job done better, faster and smarter. :)

in my experience , backlinks with true anchor text solves every problem.

if you want to have better rank words like like vintage jewelry, antique jewelry, art deco jewelry, sterling jewelry, costume jewelry, get more and more backlinks with these words
