    Hi everyone,

    I own: www.arcadegrab.com

My current bounce rate averages 60% a day. I find that to be extremely high considering that means that more than half my traffic is useless.

Do any of you have any suggestions for me to reduce my bounce rate? (Design, content, etc)

Thanks, and I really appreciate your help,

    - Mokshal

Have you looked at your web site log files to see how visitors are finding your site? Look specifically at keywords/phrases being used -- do they match what you're offering?

Yup, all the keywords and methods they are finding me are 100% relevant to my content. I've been starting to think that it might be my design. But a lot of people say my design is great.

I don't know where your visitors landing.and i see some dead links in your site.
First, the design is not so effective.unwanted colors dominating too much part.use the space wisely.you can follow other game sites to see how the space is utilized and make a nice layout.:D

Some times too many links are bad enough like you might have seen in Wikipedia you have done that too many links if you have put some content that may have help you. You are also running Ad-sense on your site it might be the fact visitors might get diverted towards it.

I have seen a link one in the below(an external link,of course.I just wanted to show but it says"access restricted for now").

Its color scheme.you have to approach a professional web designer or you have to select carefully what colors are to be used.Actually your colors not a big problem.they are occupying too much space in the page.

What I would do is some split testing. Take two pages from your site that get about the same type of hits from generally the same keywords and also have the same bounce rate. Then change one of them in ways that you think will make the page more sticky. Just keep trying until you see the results you want on that page. Once you've accomplished that, you can change the rest of the pages with your new design.

Thanks for the advice. I will look into my color scheme more and test out some pages. Also, if anyone could find that darned broken link, I'd appreciate it :)

I would say move the Flash portions higher and also have an exit popup or peel away exit script installed. Those usually lower bounce rates.

I would say SIMPLIFY in every way possible. There is A LOT going on on this site.

The user has no idea where to look, the constantly changing text, the left menu, middle menu, one of the 20 icons, the multiple ads, etc.

my blog is 4 months old. but still my bounce rate is 79%!!!!! i think 60% is totally OK!! gradually your site will become popular and older then the bounce rate will be decreased.

There are major 2 reasons for high bounce rate.

    1) Poor Content

If your content is not good, visitors will leave your website quickly so try to make your content interesting, helpful and easy to understand.

    2) Irrelevant Traffic

If you are buying traffic or submitting your website from where you get huge traffic, that is also increasing your website bounce rate because the visitors you are seeing are either actually machines or they are just visiting your website to make money because many websites pay for these kind of stuffs.

Bounce rate on a blog does not matter as the visitors only assess directly the page form which he wants the information. Traffic matter for the blog...

Maybe you are marketing it to the wrong audience. The only other fault i would find is the amount of ads.

i think you need a more minimilistic home page, which is ad free.

Target your ads on game pages.

take a look at bumperball.com, that site makes xx,xxx from adsense alone

If you could have content your viewers would love to interact with, like a quiz or some kind of feedback, that will reduce your bounce rate
