I am working on a horse racing syndication/partnership website. I own the URL's "Microsyndicateracing.com" and "Microsynracing.com". My partners want to use the second one because it is shorter. I have no problems with using the shorter one, but I am worried it could hurt our ability to rank highly for "horse racing syndicate" and keywords related to that. Please advise.
I agree with sprogy..the first one is better. if you opt for the 2nd one you are looking to create an authority site or a brand by itself...but will take a longer time to rank compared to the 1st one
It's good to have an exact match domain but it's not the most important thing. If you have relevant H1 tags and meta description, then good quality content with links with the keyword in the anchor tag, you shouldn't have a problem.
Hi, There is a lot of evidence that an "exact match domain" or an "appended exact match domain" are worth getting, if organic rankings are important. I remember a video I saw that (on the spot) did a search on "credit cards". The top google ranker was creditcards.com Visa, Mastercard, AmericanExpress were all lower ranking AND, AND, AND, the top site (creditcards.com) had FAR FEWER backlinks than the others. Yes, this does not necessarily mean it will be true for you but this topic has been studied quite a bit..... So if your KW is: horse racing syndicate The try to get an exact match domain, like: horseracingsyndicate.com or an appended URL like: horseracingsyndicate7.com Hope this helps. All the best, InternetMarketing108
Hi, lots of good advice given above. If it were me I would go for the first one, as it would help you rank faster. Hope that helps Maggie David
