Need help choosing a host

I recently had a ecommerce website and I shut it down a few months ago. I flip semi trucks for a living. I buy them fix them up and resell them and I have a bunch of parts that I want to sell. My question is what host has a program where I can advertise my parts and also I would like to have it where I can charge people for a small fee so they can also create a account and post there parts also. A big example on what I want is heavytruckparts.net which I'm sure I cant make be that good because it probably would cost a pretty penny to make that program but I want something close to that and isn't hard to operate. The reason I want to do this is because that website wants a fortune to advertise on there site, $250 monthly which I think is crazy.

So let me get this straight. Are you wanting a host suggestion, or a website done?

A host suggestion, I don't have the money to pay someone to build it. I used volusions for my ecommerce website but I don't see it working for this kind of site.

Well it depends on your budget. If you have around $90, I would go with Blue Host.

If you're willing to spend more, I would go with some type of VPS.

    VPS: Virtual Private Server

It's a server which most people use to run something 24/7. Such as a website, or a gaming server.

If you are just looking to start a community where people can come and post parts for sale or for purchase then you can always start up a forum. You can even limit certain functions so only you can post in the for sale section.

If it's a brand new site then you won't have to worry about VPS or Dedicated servers at this stage. I'd recommend to go with http://hostturbo.com

Their ticket support is great. If you need a forum installed they will do it for you. However, their control panel offers a tool that can make the installation easy as pie.

Yeah, you will need to buy a custom php script for it and then upload it to a web host. I did a google search and found http://www.ezosc.com/ezAUTO.php, there are some other ones out there but you will have to further search.

Well it depends. I've developed for the forum software IPB (Invision Power Board). They have a GREAT, OUTSTANDING add-on called 'IPB Nexus'. It's seriously the best store on any forum I've seen. However the site you posted, they are using a custom coded script. Which, yes, most people charge crazy amounts for this. Especially on this forum, I tend to see people OVER PRICE A BUNCH.

Its not going to be really a store, is more like they pay a fee and they can post there part and the description of it with there number and maybe a link to there website.

Well even then, you can set-up the software so they pay to register, and in order to see the store, they have to log-in. You're wanting something like craigslist, but pay to register, or post first correct?

I think a forum would fit that best, you can have them pay you before they post in the section.

Yes that is pretty close to what I want, I want it where they can post there parts and only be able to edit theres only. And when people are searching for parts they can choose what part and brand year and so on

Yes, I would go the forum route then, and I think IPB is pretty good for that.
