My computer got virus and now when i try to start it. It shows the page where i've to select a option from these- Start windows normally good know configuration safe mode etc. etc. etc. When i select an option it just restarts. So, i'm not able to boot it. I've P4, Intel motherboard and windows XP. What should i do?? The thing is i'm not getting a way to reboot like i select any option and it restarts ad gives the same window again and does nothing. However, i've a bootable cd. Can u give a way to boot it from that screen directly where i had to select options
Have you tried selecting Safe Mode?. Maybe you have some hardware problems like a broken PSU or something... Get back here if you using safe mode doesn't work...
What kind of bootable CD? To boot it, you'll need to change the boot priority settings in your BIOS. To get to the BIOS settings page, you can probably just keep tapping the DEL key when you start your computer. Then select CD drive as your first boot device. If I was you, I'd immediately boot into a Linux live CD/USB stick, and try to burn any important data to a DVD, or save it to another drive. Then just reformat your infected drive and start fresh. Yet another reminder for us all to keep daily backups.
the first time you see these type of errors, always choose "last good known configuration" to avoid the "good boot up configuration" to be overwritten. good luck!
ithink this is the correct option.in some computers you have to press F1 to get into bios setting page.Make cd your first boot priority and then restart the computer to Boot from CD.if error persist then its better to show it to some of your friend who knows about computer bcz there may be some hardware problem . There is another thing you remove the external cards specially network card then start the computer.Sometime these cards can cause problem .After successful login you can again place the card into it but before placing the card clean the slot and card with something so that the dust get removed
Press the BIOS setup key and set the first boot priority drive to your cd/dvd drive then restart your pc. If you still can't fix your computer, ask a computer technician or someone who can fix your computer to troubleshoot and repair your computer problem.
Hi There Get a decent boot CD / USB. Configure your BIOS to boot from it. Scan for viruses / malware etc and verify clean Test your memory and HDD from the boot CD / USB All info and guides are in my sig below. If you need help obtaining a boot CD / USB then let me know. Regards
You can consider for using WinXP usb boot such as BartPE. With BartPE we can run some portable antivirus to scan your computer.
Yes i think this is the correct answer, but in some laptops the BIOS is on F1 or something else, mine it is on F2.so dont be confused.but dont forget to take the backup otherwise u ll lose the data. Regards
This is usually a dead-end for non techie users out there, Its not really a virus, its just the PC has Corrupted data that it doesn't feel well enough to start. The last resort might be a reformat of the OS installed, plain and simple.
boot from the optical drive Using windows cd .1st it ask for repir option.press r.now it comes in command prompt.type chkdsk.after completing type exit.Hope this will work.
First rectify the boot priority from the boot menu. If the problem persists i think you would have to install fresh copy of operating system on your system.
may b this is because of boot sector virus, if it is so then you have to repartition your hardisk to create fresh boot fiiles.
Make a good Boot cd/dvd. Make first boot device priority to cd/dvd. save change ..restart the PC with bootable cd/dvd and install the windows again.
just reinstall xp and clean RAM if not Than Check "ram its working or not" just If not for above check the cable from hd to mb and drive to mb
- Use the bootable XP CD and go through the repair process there. If it doesn't help, reinstall XP over in the same directory as before and it will get all your old XP files replaced up with the new once. This should get you running.
Yeah quite recently I just managed to save my old harddrive from bad cpu issues on one of my blades, maybe easybuxy should run chkdsk and if he/she has a spare copy of OP could use it to reinstall/repair that system, just remember non techies to NOT SELECT THE FORMAT option whist doing this ..lol learned that one in 89 dam I still miss "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego" say anyone got a spare copy ROOFIS
You aren't really the OP and we never had your query of what problem you have? What fixed up by doing what ?
