    Hi

I am new to the adwords game. I tried to sign up for the yahoo thing and get the $55 free but for whatever reason it did not work.

I have made a website and I want to get people to come to it so I thought might as well try adwords.

I don't want to spend too much money on it since really the site is not going to make too much. How much will my site make it depends on how many ppl donate and click my ads. So if I make anything probably be just to cover hosting costs.

So I really don't want to spend more then $40 on it.

I made some keywords up and I was shocked to see that they range from 23 to 60 cents a click.

The nice thing is I know these keywords are probably pretty popular since I used them many times and I would get position 1 to 3 on every keyword.

The thing though is there estimator figures I will get 0 clicks a day. So I don't know why these words are so much if they don't even think I will get a click.

So how do I do I find how much traffic these search hit? how do I figure out cheaper words so I get more bang for my buck.

As you can see I am quite confused on how to proceed with this all.

How do you find more keywords?

    By thinking about it! ;)

You could also try one of the many keyword research tools out there. To start with try Wordtracker's Free Tool. That tool will also give you an idea of the estimated search volume for each keyword.

The cost per click is probably so expensive because it's popular. Though I highly doubt the keywords are popular if they gets no click!

Another good (free!) keyword research tool is SEO-Book. It gives you the search results for Wordtracker, Google, Yahoo and MSN. You can also download the results into a CSV file.

But pay per click is usually about making money, ie the idea is that you want to pay less for keywords than you can earn from those keywords. Even though it sounds like making money from your PPC efforts is not really your aim, you will be competing against other advertisers who are very focussed on their returns. So for them paying 0.20 for a keyword maybe an absolute bargain if they can get a $1.50 in revenue for that click.

That said, Google's estimate tools are not known for being super accurate :)

anything under 0.50 is considered cheap in my opinion. If you are looking for 0.01 to 0.10 cent clicks you need to master content or 3rd party search engines. Its the only way to get such cheap traffic.
