McAfee recently popped up a message say there was a new connect on my network, do i want to trust this computer or mark them as an intruder. i have marked them as an intruder as i don't know what it is but they are still there on the network.

    my router address is xxx.xxx.0.1
    my home computer is xxx.xxx.0.2
    laptop computer is xxx.xxx.0.3

    then the intruder is xxx.xxx.0.5

my question is, how is this person connecting to my network? i have set up on the router a control list and enabled a mac access list with only allowing my laptop to connect to the network.

Is this an intruder or am i missing something.

    any advise would be appreciated.

Is your router Wireless? If yes, do you have WEP/WPA? If it's not wireless, they have plugged themself in by the sounds of it.

Yes its a wireless router, the main pc is wired but laptop wireless, i have WEP set up with a WEP key.

if i am using WEP and i have set up an access list so only the laptop can connect to it using MAC id, how is it possible for anything else to connect to the network?
