Hi. I have websites Monetized which is designed using Dreamweaver. Im designing a sale page atm, this is my 1st time im making sale page. Im want to sell a text file on my page. So when someone chose to buy, my page should take them to paypal payment page then paypal should redirect them to download page once the payment is successfull. Also that download link should not work when it used directly without paypal. So how do i do that? thx in advance
Create a sales page first. Once you have the sales page you can go to Paypal and create a buy button. Paypal will walk you through the information needed to create the buy button and it will ask you what page to send them too after payment. This is where the download page comes into play. Securing the download page is the tricky part. You can use a real obscure link name and make it not searchable by search engines. There are also products out there that can lock this page down for you (dlguard is one of them). A lot of people are using sites built on wishlist, amember etc that already handle this for them so they don't have to worry about this problem.
Thx. i checked dlguard. it costs 150$ so its out of my range atm. is thr anything else which is free to use? atm i created a subdomain and puts download file inside a folder with long random letters and numbers. also included robots.txt in this subdomain to stop search engines to crawl in this domain. but this not gonna protect the download link. atleast it dont let users to remember the link if they not bookmarked it. when i made 150$ from this then i can buy dlguard. I've read where some of the most established internet marketers so not to worry about this too much when first starting out. People are ALWAYS going to illegally distribute useful products regardless of how hard you try to protect it. Look at something like Microsoft Office...you need a serial key and everything, people still pirate it. For not, spend more time promoting and selling your product and once you have money think about getting something to protect it. Something else you could do is just switch up the download page every so often. That way if someone shares your download link the page will be dead. Maybe switch it up every Monday, or every 5 sales...whatever you think will work best for you. This should only take you a few minutes and it will go a long way to help protect your product.
Just create your sales page, then Paypal will guide through the process and create your Buy button. And from Paypal , after it`s paid, the buyer should be redirected to you obscure link download page, and that`s it
