My site specializes for the SF Bay Area. Here is a list of things I do -

    1.) Twitter
2.) Blog and submit articles to Digg and Yahoo! Buzz
    3.) Hold a monthly contest
4.) Utilize AdWords/3 CTR per day avg.
5.) Get new Google Friend Connect members
6.) Hand out flyers (could do much more of this)
7.) Advertised on SF Weekly (didn't get any posters from that... waste of $)

I need better SEO and I am working on that.

What else can be done to get the word out to a local area... the SF Bay Area with a limited budget?

Do everything you can to get your site listed in the organic listings on the first page of google - people trust the organic results more than the ads.

Some tips to get multiple listings on google's first page:

do keyword research and target the appropriate keywords for your product or service in your area. For example: "theraputic massage san francisco bay area" Target these keywords on your site and in every other post or video you create.

advertise on craigslist with a link back to your site - craigslist has a high PR and will help you to get another listing on the first page - but, again, use appropriate keywords

submit articles and press releases with stories in them, people love a good story. Be sure to include a link to your site in the bio box - use appropriate keywords in the title, the content, and at the end of each article.

Create short videos with product benefits, testimonials, etc. Publish and include a link back to your site.

Social bookmark EVERY article you submit! Also bookmark your blog and twitter posts and your videos. All of this will help with SEO.

Thanks for the information, sheilarose! I just got a SEO keyword mod for my site. But it will take more work to get better organic results. I now also utilizing some other sites to post my site to.

    The show must go on.
