the ad management mod is probably the hardest to edit into a new theme.
i've done it many times and it never gets easier.

when you install mods on your SMForum, the default theme is the only theme
that the mod is applied to, any add on themes will need editing and requires
that you pay close attention to what your doing.

each mod package has an install.xml or something similar in it. refer to that for
your installation instructions. remember, only theme files need editing.

and always backup the files your working on in case you make a mistake.

wow, why do you need so many mods? editing a theme for that number of
mods would take hours, literally. what will you do when upgrade
time comes along? many more hours of editing.

i suggest you cut down on the mods, seriously, that many mods can only lead to disaster.

I think SMF 2.0 tries to install mods on custom themes but not necessarily successfully. Its in beta and there is no way to downgrade back to SMF 1.1.4 so its a risk upgrading to SMF 2. If you are aware with the syntax of [mod_name].xml file then look through the file for templates that need editing, otherwise use the package parser and it should give you the code which needs to be replaced/edited/added. It will require some knowledge of PHP.

I think 10-20 (even less) is fair enough. You really don't need that number of mods (150) to make your forum viable.

So make a thorough check up and uninstall the unnecessary ones. It is wise and 100% less risky for your forum.

Use FTP and replace all files with fresh new ones from the Install pack. There's not way out of it. Then, you install the mods that you need. The more the mods you have, the more the risk of your site breaking down.

when you install a package, your source files are backed up in the package folder. or you can download the files to your comp and save there.

to get the database, in the forum admin panel bottom left is a link for Forum Maintenance. you'll see there you can get an sql or gzipped backup.
