    Hello Everyone,

Currently I am working on a school project. And I need to create/use a cms behind this design, www.dikkop.com

At first I wanted to go for Joomla, but it seems it's harder then I have thought. Now I thought of using wordpress as it's easier to skin, as far as I have seen right now.

I know how to use php includes, but that's about it. I need people who aren't capable of html/css etc to add pages to our website! I first thought to just make sort of my own cms by using a lot of php includes, but it does not allow me to make pages and use wysiwyg. So I am asking for your help.

Should I learn how to make my own cms behind it.

Or should I use some cms software, if so which one is easiest for skinning!

    Thank you ahead,

    Klaas Koopman

Klaus, I agree Joomla/Mambo isn't simple to use and everyone has their preference. It's like ice cream some like vanilla, some like chocolate, it is all just ice cream. Thats the same thing with CMSs -- some prefer one while others prefer another, they are all CMSs just different flavors. So with this in mind, there are many flavors available -- Joomla/Mambo isn't your only flavor choice. I suggest you review several systems to see which one works for you and your situation, see OpenSourceCMS.com.

I personally have installed and used all the major choices, my preference in PostNuke. It is flexible, easy to skin, and very very customizable. If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to help.

    Best Regards,

    Vanessa

NVU is an open source editor.....you can create quick joomla templates in it....the code is pretty good but not as good as hand written of course.

Hi Klaas, sorry -- looked at your layout and it will be simple to set up in PN. There are a couple of similar layouts you can use as a guide when creating your theme too. :)

BTW: What part of the Netherlands are you in? I have been to Amsterdam a couple times and loved it. :) I hope to be going to Germany in August for a conference and would like to take a side trip to northern Europe and Norway to see some relatives.

Would you be able to help me out, cause I am not great at learning from tutorials, better at learning through people!

And I'm at the top of the Netherlands, Friesland. And yes I can speak Frisian.

Where are you from? I'm going to london next week for a trip myself :)

Obviously you haven't read my thread...

I use it on www.historyexplorer.net and www.iollo.net .... I like it very much only thing that i a minus is that it don't come with meta tags by default, but you can mod it ;) ... here is the mod http://www.solucija.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=637

If you mod it you will have no omitted results in google. You can check that with my two sites ... history site has omitted results and iollo not

Otherwise this is very good and very quick cms. What I like is that you only insert 3 tags into your template and you are ready for production
