I recently put up a directory script on a domain I had that I hope will soon rank well for website designer keywords... The site is http://www.websitedesigners.net I am looking for some feedback on the idea of a web designer directory? Do you guys think that it is a needed service with all of the other directories like it out there? And how do you think I should design the site?
It's a nice looking script and layout, but first time visitors might not know what the site is a directory for. Try making the website designer logo or text larger.
In addition to the points made by iamays, it might also be a good idea to have a paragraph or two that describes the purpose and value of the directory. You might also want to think about having a USP to distinguish it from other website designer directories. - Vaddi
Nice menu icons, colors but i think some of them are missing, layout color, no graphics designs on home page. The Banner text is very small, try to change to some larger size.
I think you should keep design simple... just change a bit color scheme, css and graphics to have your unique look and feel. Nice color scheme with minimalistic graphic and well designed logo will make this directory outstanding. Also I would increase font size 1-2 pixels... That's my opinion regarding design... Here is one good example I like: www.dirbuzz.com About content: I think it's very useful for website designers and those who are looking for them the fact that you organized categories by states... I would improve these categories by adding subcategories for different type of services (web design graphics, xhtml coding, php development, SEO services etc.) Hope I gave you some useful ideas...
