Here is the minimum system requirements for installing windows 7 as published on microsoft's site. But it will work on some lower configuration systems too. But performance does matter. If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Installing Windows 7 on a PIII system would give you horrible results. In this case the minimum requirements really are the minimum, a PIII system would roll over and die trying to run Win7 lol.
Your laptop will start crying if you try installing 7 on it. Pentium 3 doesn't have the capacity to hold 7. - Mr.President -
I am running windows 7 on my Asus netbook that has 1gig of ram and a single core 1.6 ghz processor in it. It runs great. Much*** better than xp did. And I only have a 20 gig hdd.
I wouldn't, I'm sure you could get it running to some extent... a PIII should really be running XP though, haha!
You could run windows 7 on your Pentium 3. Is it a good idea? NO. You would run into performance and graphic issues. I have never tried this but my girlfriends laptop is a 1.5ghz (2009 laptop) that runs windows 7. In the past I have installed windows xp on many windows 1998 machines and things ran smoothly, sometimes better then dual core pcs.
Please don't bump threads this old. If you have something to say that you feel is really that important use a PM. Thanks.
