Hi DP friends and Experts, I have a Query on TRAFFIC driving I have seen in many other forums not related to webmaster but say related to entertainment or celebrities or pics or videos forums , People register and make a lot of post or threads related to videos or pics and the visitors of the forums just come online to surf and watch videos and pics. Now some of the members I have seen make threads of pics / videos, they post pics and vidoes and then in the signature or just at the end of the thread they put the Anchor text which is relevant to PICS/VIDEOS of celebrities or Movies but when you click the Anchor text by assuming its a celebrities pics/videos then it actually takes you to some other Websites (Non - relevant) , I am assuming its a technique to drive traffic Now some members are OLD and regular posters so visitors will visit their thread as they will attract traffic as they are OLD MEMBERS and actually at start of their thread there are real pics /videos and at the bottom they post this ANCHOR TEXT relevant to pics but the hyperlink is actually some other non-relevant website. So is this technique of driving traffic from non relevant anchor text will really help in SEO or it will just help in driving traffic and UV's : Unique visitors , just to increase the count . Can anyone please advice its advantages or disadvantages or both Please let me know does it really helps ? if yes in which way ? SEO or just traffic ? or none of them its waste , Please suggest Also will it affect search engines results like google especially
In my opinion it is a waste of time doing this. Not only are you duping the people that click on these links, but it won't be good for se optimization either. Just think these people click on these links looking for information on something that they are interested in. If they click on your link that says "celebrity pictures here", then they arrive on your site and your site is about computer hardware, then they will click on their big red cross like a shot. Search engines are also not stupid, if your anchor text is not relevant to your site, they will pick up on this. Hope this helps
In order to get cached and then ranked, a site needs first quick-startup-traffic. This is the part of it. Not at all complete waste of time. Although the technique is good if site is newly launched, it doesn't make any good or bad difference.
Thanks for the same , I agree that From Users point of view it wont help But then I am curious why are people doing , Any idea Does then really help by having hits on homepage from UV's : Unique visitors ? Waiting more expert opinions

they are just wasting their time. just getting traffic to show their clients otherwise from SE point of it is just waste of time...
