I'm new to this affiliate stuff. One of my products has 202 hops with 19 form impression and ZERO sales. Smells fishy. I'm only promoting with PPC and have logged 154 clicks. I did check one of my ads and my affiliate name is still at the bottom. (I did not check all ad copy) Landing page is just as good as some of the others I use with sales. Is a competitor affiliate doinking with me? What say you?!
That's actually pretty much the norm and it can be even worse. Most people will send a few hundred clicks to a product to see if it converts and if it doesn't they will just move on. It really depends on the product that you are trying to sell.
You may also want to check your traffic relevance. If you are sending untargeted traffic, you could send thousands of clicks to a landing page and still get no sales!
Relevance is a great call out. I think it has to do with buyer maturity with the particular demographic. My other products are converting to sales once a form impression is captured. I looked at some natural search screens and there appears to be a staunch competitor that has wrapped things up with great #1 page position. Probably time to lick my wounds and move on. Cheers!
you need at least 500 hops to evaluate your product. if no sales then move on. either tow things then. your landing page sucks or the sales page of the vendor sucks. Targeted traffic stated above has tons to do as well. If you have a banner ad for acne on a site about dogs your conversion ratio will be like .2% not the standard 1%. keep trying and split test your landing pages to see if one converts better than the other.
Thanks for the insight! If all traffic was PPC and Avg click price of .15 then it takes a $75 investment to effectively evaluate a product. Clearly it is an interative journey of split testing and not just waiting for the magical 500 hops. Hopefully with a price point of $25 you break even and decide. Once you find a good product it seems the next step would be to scale and really drive traffic.
