I currently own a directory name GoSubmit directory which i started about a month old and no PR assigned. How make this directory a successful one? Although i am pretty much satisfied with design perspective, what are the other things i need to work on:confused:

Another problem is only 12 pages indexed by google, which really makes me frustrated. Any workarounds?

Let me know what you think. Thanks

You need to promote it. Having 12 pages indexed isn't going to make people want to submit to your site.

Concentrate on building links and making sure you get more pages indexed.

It will, yes, and also I believe you should submit some sitemap to google, which may well speed the pages indexing. ;)

Bare in mind that sometime it's better to have 4 or 5 payed powerfull listings than a zillion free crappy ones.

    EDIT

Just checked... I've recently launched my new directory squidlink.com (PR6) and strated promoting it. I bought payed links on high PR /high Page Strenght Dirs, submitted to a few free ones and submitted the sitemap to google...
    What I got?
610 pages indexed in less than 15 days and a Pagstrenght of 3.5 already...and climbing!

I would definately submit a sitemap.

Also, I would concentrate on getting links to your directory.

Links are fuel to a site, especially a directory.

As for the pages, they will get indexed sooner or later.

Easy buy a high PR link for the toolbar to lure people in, and make it a recip directory.
Thus people see the high toolbar and will submit.
Some will recip for a while.

    here is the update.

I submitted a sitemap to google and got all pages indexed quickly. I recommend these scripts to generate google sitemaps.

    Thanks :)
