I'd LOVE to hear some input from DP about my blog and how I can make it better and a success. http://blog.browie.com
I beleive that the review / websites section would get you more replies and that would be more appropriate section for your thread. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 Anyways, nice blog, and nice adsense blending... Goodluck
Hey Browie, The blog is looking good! You've been keeping regular with the updates and that's very important. Good work . How is your AdSense payout? Unless you're getting lots of traffic (and probably even so), I'd recommend removing AdSense from within your posts on the main page and let them rest on the single page (edit your single.php Wordpress template). To turn on Permalinks, be sure that there is an .htaccess file in your root directory and that you have permissions properly set. Then enable it from within the WordPress admin. Take a look at Feedburner.com as an excellent free solution for display your WordPress feed as well as their new "FeedSmith" plugin. It's an excellent way of letting your visitors easily keep track of your updates. Keep up the good work! : ) -Jonathan
Browie is perfectly ok as a nickname. I think what the previous commenter was referring to was the actual URLs of your posts. For example, you currently have: blog.browie.com/?p=21 When, with Permalinks on, it could be: blog.browie.com/a_ten_year_life It's much nicer for the search engines : ). To turn that on, login to your site via FTP and check the root directory of your blog. If there is an .htaccess file, awesome. Right click on it and click "Properties" (I recommend SmartFTP.com if you don't yet have an FTP program). Then, set the permissions to 666. If the file doesn't exist, create it and then upload it and then set permissions. File name must be ".htaccess" Now, login via Wordpress and go to Options, then Permalinks. Go to the "Custom" box and enter: /%postname% Save and update permalinks. You're good to go! : ) Keep up the good work, -Jonathan
I've tried researching on how to edit the singl.php file and have tried lots of methods and I do not see any adsense popping up at all. I'm a noob. I use FeedBurner. Is there something I didn't do right?
