Need critique of placement of adsense

I have a hobby site where I have adsense on but it is not important. I don't care if the site makes money. Nevertheless, I gussied it about until I had an AS skyscraper down the right side and all of a sudden the site is making money. Not a lot but a big difference.

See where you have the Goldmine thingie. That's where I'd put an AS block.

 

You'r better of having a large rectangle in these types of sites OR need to have a better and header adsense block, probably a little bigger? and I think you are better off experimenting colours as some work great some don't.

I have rotating ads in that spot but do have an Adsense block.

I am taking in all the advice I can get.

 

For community based sites, I find that large rectangle and a header ad to work great.
