I am running a niche job posting site. Currently this is free service and I am getting reasonable traffic through placing link to user forums, directory submission and direct email campaign. I am thinking of using Adworld and making it paid job posting service. Considering this is a very small niche area, I am not sure how effective it would be to use adworld and make it a paid service. I have few questions I hope I will get some insight form you guys: 1.Generally, do companies use SE to find out a job posting site or they depends on reputation or words-of-the-mouth? Consider this is a niche field (for example mining jobs) and most of the companies are government agencies and really small in size. 2.My site is running over 6 months, is it time to make this move or should I wait more time to gain a user base? 3.Currently I am running Google AdSense which cover cost of running the site. Do you think running add will give a bad impression to my potential user? I saw big job site like dice.com run Google add too. Any comments/suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks
Adwords can be effective and no it will not give them a bad impression of your site. Only your site not being well run or thought out would give them that impression. As for what other sites do to gain exposure it is a combination of several things. Seeing as how your budget is not the same size as theirs you might continue to promote locally as well through business cards, signs and such. Also posting in forums that are related to what you do is a good way to keep a steady flow of traffic. As well use your sites link in your signature on all forums you go to. You never know who will see it that might be looking for a service such as yours. Finally make sure to remove the google adsense from your site or talk to google before you run the ad on their system. They could and sometimes do view this as a violation of their TOS and suspend or terminate accounts for this. Even if your intention is to sell your product. You might also consider other PPC systems that charge much less per click. Good Luck Kevin
No you dont need to to remove adsense if you are running adwords. Infact you may be able to ofset your adwords costs with the earnings from your adsense. This is an ideal stuation. Bradi
I would not say that. There have been threads on here that have talked about getting banned for running adwords ads to a site with adsense. However, it would be best to contact them and ask them before you do and get it in writing from them. Then you at least have something to fall back on. Most likely they might say dont worry about it as you are selling something as well, but better safe than sorry.
