Hi I am looking for a programmer who can create a custom CMS clone of this website gazelle.com (Not exactly the graphics, but the CMS it uses). I also need an e-commerce type function built in for payments, shipping, buying, selling, etc.

If you are interested, please give me your portfolio and estimated price for this project in a PM including if you are able to do a design as well. I need to get this started as soon as possible. Thanks.

I am still interested in hiring a programmer to do this project. I need it professional so I will be paying at least $400-500 I assume. I am preferably looking for someone in the USA or at least the same time zone because communication is vital.

Did you actually mean "clone the website"? Because cloning a CMS does not sound like a necessary thing to do with all the available choices around. With Joomla, Drupal, WordPress you can recreate any website, no need for a custom clone.

It's an e-commerce site and Joomla is for forums, and Wordpress is for blogs. Also I am aware their are e-commerce CMS's out there however I haven't tried them and I would prefer something custom. Although if you have any e-commerce scripts to recommend I can try them out.

Joomla is a content managing system ;)
As far as I know, it doesn't even has a default forum included.

Any particular reason why you would use a custom solution instead of a widely used one? Among the benefits of the later are better support coverage, controlled upgrades, and feature enhancements, unlike a custom solution that you get and get stuck with.

    Try osCommerce, Zen-Cart, Magento, Virtuemart.

I'd see some reasons for going with a custom solution. (Which is why I've made my own CMS)

One of the most important reasons for me as a developer/programmer is that I know exactly how my script works, and how I can write new functions.

For someone who's only developing, a good reason would be the security. Because no-one else has access to the script, it's way harder to find exploits; combine that with a good overal security and your script is hack-proof.

A good developer that is concerned about security issues related to using a common script should be able to "hide" the identity of his ecommerce solution, yet benefit from the additional modules and plugins available. But I won't argue, there is always a good reason for using a custom made code.

True, but real expert can still easily find out which ecommerce solution is used.
URL Formatting and the overall look and feel give away many things :)

Unless you're good enough to hide those things, if you really, desperately need to worry about that aspect :)

So if I use a widely used script such as Magento, but I have it modified to my needs, and custom design, would I need the programmer to add extra security benefits or is Magento already secured enough? Would it be better to just use an open source ecommerce CMS like magento or virtuemart and have it modified and custom designed?

Hackers can still blindly run popular CMS exploits on your site, thus giving them a small chance of succesfully taking it down.

It's always best to have extra security measurements.
