    Hi all!

I am looking for some help with my latest directory project. It is the Student Resource Directory.

I am looking for Category and Sub-Category suggestions for the site. If you click the link above you will find a shell for a directory which is just a place holder for the site. I am actually in the process of migrating to the new version of PHPLD and will be adding a new improved template. I still am building the back end and want to make sure the categories reflect what a true student resource directory would have.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Please post them here.

first of all the adsense placement si abusive.

Second of all, if you are a stundend you should know what categories to add.
As an advice, include education related categories, etc.

Its good to see a nice Niche directory being built. Perhaps look at wikipedia or a directory like Dmoz when building your category structure. Thats how I built mine.

I think there are a number of forums that cater to the college crowd. I'd check them and see what the kids are talking about.

What about a Sports category, you could split it into associations, clubs, competitions and so on...

Thanks everyone for the great replies except for hyper who obviously didn't read my post very well. I am not a student, nor have I been one for a long time. Just trying to build a quality directory.

I didn't think of the DMOZ thing, that is a pretty good idea as well as the Sports thing, I hadn't thought of that at all, but it might be a good addition.

Still working on a good template for the site. Thanks for the replies. Keep 'em coming!

This is a good line of cats and these categories can get pretty big if you really draw out the possibilities. Good thoughts. I appreciate it.

When I was in college (a long time ago) these are the topics I would have liked to see:

    - Liquor
    • beer
    • beer

    - Pizza
    • Cheese Pizza
    • Sausage Pizza
    • Pizza Delivery
    • Beer and Pizza

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

    You can do a marketplace

    1) college marketplace (choose your college)
    -----spring break packages
    ----used ipods
    ---used cars
    ----tickets
    ---apartments to sublet
--textbooks (which can be broken down into a milliion subcategories)
    Search (pick your school)
    --faculty and staff search
    --student search
    --course search

Im pretty familiar with college stuff, and Im trying to do something similar theserve.info .. PM if you want to help each other out.
