Need Car Makes and Models Database

Hey everyone, does anyone know where I can find a car make and model sql server database? I don't need reviews, car specs or anything like that, just makes and models and year.

You probably gonna have to pay for that. I know this company supplies vehicle data: http://www.jato.com/ but they may be expensive and may provide more data than you are looking for.

I have the same problem - I need database of Cars, models
BUT I also need some reviews, photos, different model modifications and etc.
How much could it cost? And where to buy if somebody knows

I decided I'm going to just try to grab list of makes and models then write a script to add it to 2 different tables since I don't need reviews and pics and all that.

Man.. sorry to dig this old thread up, but I'm in the same position. I need a database (paid is fine) for Year/Make/Model/Engine. No reviews, etc. MySQL is preferred, and something that is updated, and goes back further than 1995.

Also, I've been hearing about purchasing auto-part databases, but finding very little information about this. If anyone has more info about that.. that would be great. I'm trying to build a auto-part store for a client, and do not want to get in the middle of tons of data-entry. Surely, someone offers this services already.

Hey Hanji,

I never got around to making a script of makes and models but as a last resort if you can't find one, try all the various auto websites, many of them have their values in a JS file for the drop downs, you can create your own tables from that.

 

I wrote a small ruby script to download the model/make/year database from Kelly Blue book web site. More info here:

We offer a vehicle database that contains US vehicles as well as many from other countries from 1960 to present. The database will be updated yearly to include the new model year and will occasionally be updated with more foreign vehicles and model years previous to 1960.

We also offer a program to track your vehicles fuel mileage, maintenance, and parts.

Here is a list of makes & models in csv format that I created from Kelly Blue Book. There are no years.

Thanks for that aswell, I may end up just keeping it simple, Make model and year... basically im making it possible for people to create profiles for themselves and their cars. I'll also need to be able to somehow store the customisations people have done to their cars etc, I've got a lot of thinking to do hehe. Thanks for the help everyone, I wont be getting in full swing til after exams anyway, these are just initial design steps.
