Have you tried guest blogging? That's where you write a great article for a website, and you gain a link or two back to your website:

solar energy is a bit too narrow, you can widen out to include renewable energy sources and climatic changes.
You can try Hubpages, cejournal.net (not sure whether do follow or not, that blog used to have incoming links from Reuters).
I have some blog posts about renewable energy in Rich in every sense blog. It's a dofollow blog.
