Is it copyright infringment to use a company's name in my website title for profit? For example can I run a website called kelloggscerealdotcom and have information on kellogs cereal and adsense on it? Since i am promoting thier product is it still copyright infringement?

Many people have done this kinda thing with ebay, but ebay are very agrressive bout there trademark, dunno if kelloggs is similar, it rarely matter if its promoting there products cause theres a liability that it can quickly turn to bad press. You can always make it and if they dont like it there law department will email you about it.

You would be violating their trademark not copyright.

Having adsense on your website makes it commercial and you would be profiting from the use of their name. Of course right or wrong does not matter here. What matters is court or no court. The trademark holder can sue you regardless of who is right. If you lack the fund required to defend yourself it's over.

Therefore, the first question you need to ask yourself is "Can I afford a legal fight with company X?"
