Need an unbiased review of OVH-co-uk host, please

Hi everybody,

I am thinking of leasng a dedicated server from ovh-co-uk, but have found some negative comments about them on the web (like financial disputes, delay in refunding, replying in French only , no reciepts or invoices given etc.).

If you ARE hosting or used to host with them, could you please tell me your opinion about their support, speed, quality of connection, servers uptime, reliability of servers or any other issues that you find important.

I need only unbiased opinions, so if you are their affiliate or re-seller - please say so honestly and try to be objective.

Hi,

A few things, they will not support your servers when it comes to software stuff don't even try contacting them, as for hardware things they are awesome and will get stuff fixed asap.

Prices are great and even though the bandwidth to the USA and similar places isn't great its still alot better than some other EU hosts and works fine.

They have been known to answer in french to me a few times but, just reply back in english and you get a english reply, you can also always just call the UK office, what I normally do.

If you get over 5 ish servers they are really helpful and look after you!

Only go with them if you really know how to manage your server!

Yes, I just nee a server, no software service.

Nope, just one

I hire a sysadmin externally to take care of all the software issues and maintenance.

Ovh is very fine. Look at www.425mb.com its up since 32 day(s) and not any downtime yet. Im very happy with ovh best & cheap hoster

 

Yeh, normally 99% of the time any bad things you hear about them have something to do with the support or bandwidth as most of it is peering and they only do that to EU meaning other links are average speeds.

Once I used a server from them... there was no issue until "they cut the speed of the server to 10mpbs" like they say "100mpbs per infrastructure". This means, if your server is on infrastructure with 10 servers for example, your server ill get only 10mpbs because it is 100 / 10. If all the servers on that infrastructure keeps using the internet intensively... you almost don't get any speed (only 10mpbs guaranteed).

Besides of that, they have a lots of clients with just a few technicians. This means the owners of the company real purpose is to earn lots of money and hire the less people possible. I'm very against this kind of companies because of this. =(
