I created an eBay program for creating niche targeted sites for affiliate where thet can aern money with ebay and adsense. I am not a big SEO pro but I have tried to learn a lot of things in SEO with time and tried to implement most of them in this program. These are only 3 examples of these sites among 120 I have made so far ready to launch after April 1st eBay affiliate program changes. http://nicheportalstores.com/store/GolfBalls http://nicheportalstores.com/store/hp-laptop-batteries http://nicheportalstores.com/store/rolex Here are few things I have implemented. 1. friendly URL that has keywords in them 2. Meta tags for every page can be edited 3. Alt image text, same as page tittle 4. ability to search site and search results saved as [keyword.html] pages 5. Organic way to add even more pages using "ebay search" function that saves pages as [search term.html] pages and automatically adds to xml sitemaps for google and yahoo and automatically pings them. 6. Articles adding function Please evaluate my SEO practice, let me know what I can do better, what I can do differently and what I might have failed and needs correction. Thank you for your advice GREG
Just took a quick look at the Rolex one, looks okay so far. I'd add h1/h2 tags, and its not a good idea to have your page title and every single alt image text exactly the same. The css should also be in an external file. To rank well you really need more text content about rolexes. Right now its pretty much only pictures and links.
Vic_mackey is right. To add on, be sure to have LSI terms for your target keyword somewhere on the page and also use H2 tags to support H1 tags. E.g H1 tag: Rolex Watches H2 tag: Popular Rolex Watches Just an example ...
Question for Vic and Traffic. In regards to header tags, do you know if it hurts SEO to use CSS and modify the header tag defaults? For example, I like to surround my keywords with header tags, then use styling to reduce font size so they will fit in a paragraph.
I'm not sure, I would be inclined to use h1/h2 tags for what they are intended - headers. Using css to format them is fine, but I dont know what the effect is of using them the way you are. If you're hiding an h1 tag in the centre of a sentence/paragraph I would think that is potentially damaging, as its misusing what the tag is for.
By the way Greggy, you should include images on your store and implement image alt text. This will help considerably especially considering that it's a "store".
Very well received and will be implemented. Would you please emphasize on LSI terms. This is something am not very sure about. Thank you for your advice all
Since this is eBay API program, I chose to use articles for text content. Would this help although it might be on a different page from eBay products? Do they have to be on the same page for it to work ok? Homepage can have all text and gateway links to other pages. Your advice is highly appreciated. GREG
You're better with text on the page, rather than linking to it off-page. I'm not sure what you've automated or whats manually put in, but it would be good to at least have a couple of paragraphs of unique text about rolexes.
Alt text is already implemented. I am trying to figure how I can have this text varrying instead of all alt text being the same per page GREG
Just completed adding H1 and H2 tags as you guys suggested. I appreciate your inputs so much. Please let me know what I have done wrong that can put me in SEO trouble I have also added google XML sitemaps and yahoo maps with automatic ping
