Need an advice to select a social networking package

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a social networking software which is reliable for any future extension. I mean I want to start my site as a social networking place but it's very important to have a good blogging area and also I need to categorize my users to give them some permissions in blogging area.
What would you recommend? Also I may need to add some applications or plug-ins in the future.
