Need an Adobe Illustrator expert to help me out

I even made a video about my problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOE8utw-0wc

I've only noticed it with red, but i'm sure all of the designs I've done recently are off color wise, because it doesn't make any since that it'd only do it with red.

    Can anybody offer a solution?

    Thanks for any help!

Bit of a long shot perhaps, but I had a similar problem and I think it's something to do with color profiles and I had the same problem in Photoshop. I think Ctrl + Y is a shortcut to switch between them, try pressing that? Or manually fiddle around with them...monitor color works best for me.

ctrl + Y changes CMYK to RGB and RGB to CMYK. You are are probobly using CMYK right now just change it to RGB

I'm not using CMYK is the thing. If you watch the video, i prove to you in 3 different spots that i'm in RGB. And I know it's not my monitor profile because I don't have the problem in Photoshop.

    Hi,

First of all your Document profile is in CMYK mode (You can see that at the top).
Ctrl + Y will not change the mode in Illustrator, it will just change the preview mode from Preview to Outline or Vice-Versa.

Try reinstalling the Illustrator there might be some problem.

One more thing since your Files colour mode is CMYK so I think Illustrator might be converting the colours so that they are compatible with CMYK mode or printing.
Try making your file in RGB mode and then check the red colour.

PS: when you create a new file in Illustrator it MIGHT be by default in CMYK or Print mode.

Duude ! You are using CMYK .. and using the RGB colors in the CMYK mode wont give you a result !!
Open Illustrator and choose " WEB DOCUMENT " it MUST work !

PIGGY: YOU ARE IN CMYK. It says it in the open tab next to the File Name.

THIS is how you change it:
Go to FILE --> DOCUMENT COLOR MODE --> RGB.

    Done.

I seldom use the pen tool in photoshop/illustrator. Personally, I use the spline tool in 3D applications such as 3ds max and cinema 4d.
