Adcents is killing me... and I would like suggestions on other ad networks that will pay better across a large variety of celebrity fan sites. any ideas ?
You can test out Adbrite - sometimes they will perform well, sometimes not. You really just need to try and find out if your site will get good results from them. Also, you may want to consider pushing affiliate offers that are similar in subject to your site. Or, if you don't mind being a little shady on the ethical scale, you could try using Zango or WaveRevenue and create screen saves from celebrity images, bundle them with the zango or WR packages, and distribute them. They pay $0.45 install/US
Thanks, sounds like a good idea. I was thinking about that "possibility" with Adbrite. I am also thinking of maybe using WidgetBucks, ValueClick, and / or AdToll. I am installing a copy of OpenAds... so I will have better control of the ads being served across all these sites and which will allow me to push some affiliate products that may interest this audience.
I believe my sites have been slapped, smart-priced, and hit by their falling-payouts for this niche and with the latest overall decrease everyone is seeing. The CPMs have been falling for the past year and no signs of this being reversed. I can't afford not to find something else now. I used to get a mid-XXX range, but now it has fallen into the XX range. This is a somewhat popular free fan site hosting network... so I don't have much control over placements and such... but the pageviews and clicks are not that bad.
I'm sorry, man, but I didn't not understand you. Well, anyway, here are more avenues you may want to look into: TextLinkAds, TrafficSwarm, CasaleMedia.com, FastClick, BurstMedia, FC, TribalFusion, CJ, Azoogle, CPA Empire, GlobalInteractive, AdBrite, Adengage, RealMedia, Kontera, Avnads, ValueClick, Vibrant, and RealTechNetwork. You can also look for advertisers on your own. Check out sites similair to yours, or not, and contact their advertisers.
One thing that you can do with OpenAds/phpAdsNew is to install it on a separate account and use it to manage all of your ads for every site you own. Because it is such a large script, it is impractical to install it on every server that you are running sites off of, especially if you have limited resources.
CPC is bad when it comes to forum / community type of sites, according to me... Try CPM and / or flat-fee advertising... Oh and yes, flat-fee advertising is here to stay... I'm assuming it's a community type of a site...
We will be installing OpenAds... and we can try out a few different networks at the same time and see what produces the best for us. We can easily swap out different networks and banners as we see fit.
