I've been using Google AdSense for near enough 6 months now, and although i have experimented with many different placements and styles i feel i have hit a brick wall. Im convinced i cant add anymore or position the ads in better places (i even make use of the image placements to improve CTR). I know forums have notoriously poor CTR and i understand that wont really change but daily earnings are sometimes as low as $19/day. In terms of traffic, i receive around 9,000 uniques a day and although the adsense revenue is OK, i cant help but feel i could be potentially earning more via a different affiliate program. Im fully aware that more traffic = more clicks = more revenue. My traffic grows on an almost weekly basis and i actively work on that. Is it just a case of the grass is greener on the other side or could i be potentially earning more through a different affiliate?
Stick a daily review of a product on the forum and figure out how to drive some of your visitors to it, make it a regular thing. Then put an affiliate link in the article.
Yea, it wouldn't be a bad idea to perhaps hyperlink some of the products you mention in any reviews or discussions you may have on the forum. i.e. if you are discussing the latest plasma tv by sony, it may not be a bad idea to hyperlink it with an affiliate code that links to amazon, or tigerdirect, or any other technology web company that has an affiliate program. Text links inside of good content can be VERY effective.
Thanks for the tips, I was reading up on vibrant Media's Inteletext earlier could be useful for the articles but maybe a little too intrusive for forum content?
WOW dude, with that kind of traffic you could really be making a bundle! I've been making REALLY good money from passion.com. They're right that sex sells, people come to my site, and completely forget why they came once they see the pretty girls. most of the ads are very tastefull. you should sign up immediately, link in sig.
I find that you can have a good CTR in forums if you get a majority of your forums visitors as just guests from search engines and things. If you have alot of members that use your forums that outway the quests then you don't get as much CTR as they mainly do new posts and things.
I recommend getting involved in a cpa program. Doing that tends to generate more revenue that adsense now days
