If you don't have exp, don't rush it. Get a small reseller account first and only offer shared hosting. Take it slow. If you try to rush it you'll only make mistakes. As your client base grows, look to getting your own VPS for more reliability and control, followed by a dedicated server. Then you should think about offering vps for yourself. As for dedicated, unless you colocate, you can only get into reseller plans and at first you won't be seeing too much profit.

So just plan things out and take it slowly. If you rush it, you'll be prone to making a lot of mistakes. Invest from $20-$50/month at first which would cover a decent reseller account, billing software, and domain.

    Good luck :)

Starting a hosting business and making money on internet out of it have never been so easier. If you with to start a hosting business you may use the fully managed dedicated server for your reselling business. The real benefit of using managed dedicated server hosting is that there is a wide range of tasks covered under the server management services.

As it is fully managed solution, all the maintenance and hosting issues are carried out and monitored by the hosting provider itself. As well as, the professional and dedicated server staff is always active and ready to assist you in installation of softwares and hosting related issues.

I think for the new web hosting business you can use reseller account. That is main purpose of the reseller hosting

google will be your friend in this situation, i couldnt find any "guides" per say. but there is alot of info around the web about setting up dedicated servers and VPS's

if your not sure what to do, dont open anything to the public until you have your information packed in your head about security, linux, networking. DNS, customer support and communicating with your customers properly. etc lol, their is a lot you need to know when starting a business like that, good luck and hope it helps!

Your best bet is to start as a reseller or affiliate as others have suggested. The biggest concern you should have is how you will set yourself apart from the rest. I'm not gonna lie, this is a very competitive and cut throat industry. You are going to have to have something really, really unique. I would also suggest on focusing on customer service and support. Take care of your customers and provide reliability and good support and you'll be fine.

You can start with reseller hosting and then work it out from there.

Just don't go overboard unless you have people lined up to buy hosting from you. There are so many hosting companies out there and making a decent investment without having prospects can be catastrophic.

with all due respect to the posts above, i think that the hosting industry is saturated now. I used to run a shared/reseller hosting company and had to close it as all users started moving to the big fishes like hg and bh.

    VPS still has a market.

If you want to offer something, try offering offshore solutions at good rates. Get a server from Sweeden or Germany and offer shared/reseller accounts on them. Find the right buyers and profits will be good.

let's find your focus. If there's need high traffic, why do not choose unlimited hosting and bandwitch. I think that's nice idea to coverage the high traffic.
