I want to start a twitter like service and I want to put you a question. I think you all know that the 140 characters limit sometimes it is just not enough.

So my question: How many characters would you need? 300, 400, 500 ? How many ?

    Thanks!

300 seems like a decent limit. Anything above that I don't see people NEEDing.

    Totally agreed with you.
The limit imposed is not a good idea.
If you can i hope there is no limitation in term of the maximum word.

Would you use it if i make it ? So in other words, will people use another service that is like twitter if I raise the limit to 300 ?

There are already tons of twitter clones out there. I would rather focus on the niche to which the service is targetted than the word limit on it.

These things are called micro-blogging right? :)

Yes these things are called micro-blogging. I was thinking to make one on the movies / music or proxy area.

You want to start a twitter like service right, well don't !
What happened to being creative or you actually think that people will leave the original twitter and come running to you, if you think so then think again, i discussed this before and i think you should take a look on my reply ;)

You are not entirely right. Let's analyse this ... if a search engine exists that means that i should not do one ? Or if a domains forum exists, why I should not do one ? It does not matter the idea, it matters how you do it and how good you are in promoting your service. This is what I personally think.

Every successful business start with a unique idea otherwise they gave me wrong information back in college [faculty of commerce, business administration section] you talked about search engines right, how many individuals, corporations started their own search engine and remind me who's the best !

I am also wondering why you mentioned the forum when it's too general besides it's a community tool, it helps people to communicate and everyone uses it to deliver their own unique idea so again the subject what really matters otherwise it will be just another forum !

Do you think that you can compete with twitter team in any field and even if you did why i should go to your unique twitter when i have the original twitter, i am not here to let you down but i am being realistic and if you're interested in throwing your money then it's your own choice !

Go and follow twitter, be their shadow and you'll never be the best !
I was only trying to help and if you didn't like my advice then good luck and i hope you the best ;)

    Canadian Spike

I am not that good at promoting I admit ... at the university I study programming languages such as C++, Java, Visual Basic, PHP, MySQL and a little of ASP and MSQL, so I am more of a programmer than an advertiser or so on ... but you know, 10$ is not much for a domain, a twitter clone exists and it is open source and if I don't want to use it, I can make my own.
