    Hi,

I'm going to start a new general paid directory from the beginning.
I already have a free one (to learn from) that I try to keep it clean, so I need some directions for this one.
I know that money makes money ... but see this as a professional experience and a hobby at this point.

    1. Can you list the type of submissions or sites that I should avoid (pharm, adult, gambling, .blogspot ...) ?
    2. Should I start with 600 or 700 categories (dump) or just a few like 100 ?
    3. Should I submit to all directories that I find or just to higher PR or reputable ones ?
    4. It's a good police to submit myself good sites* at this point?
    5. Advices are welcome ;)

    * How should I define "good sites"? The ones that have good and interested content and higher PR?

    Thanks

    NN

I'd recommend not to use a dump, build your own unique category structure, Google and submitters will like this. Also dumps can cause problems.

How about using/share the same hosting account/ip for two directories? is this ok?

    1. Pretty much what you mentioned - at the end of the day the quality of sites approved is entirely up to you!!!
    2. Start with as many as you need - essential every directory (especially general ones) need space to go. However many categories you have your still likely to find you need some more (unless your DMOZ of course).
    3. This depends on what your goal of your directory is. If your looking for paid submissions look at building quantity of backlinks for PR purposes, unfortunately people are more likely to submit to PR strong directories (although obviously there are some who will submit to PR0s).
    4. If your looking to start paid and never allow free submission then yes, you will need to put quite a lot of effort in submitting quality sites that you have found. Very few people will submit to an empty paid directory.
    5. If your starting paid you'll find progress quite slow. You need to build backlinks, promote and build up links in your directory yourself. If your running phpLD it would also be advisable to get the deep link mod - this will attract quite a few submissions despite the PR0 of your directory. Finally set the submission price of your directory at a competative rate... if your purely in this for the money then i'd give up right now - everything your earn should be plowed back into the promotion and development of your directory!!!

    thanks for your words sabian1982.

I didn't decide if I'll go to full paid ... this is very difficult to archive for someone that is looking at this like a hobby.
Instead I could try be more demanding with the content of the sites that are submitted.

How about share the same ip for two or more directories?
