Need advice regarding my website being penalized

Hi all

I need some intelligent advice why my site is penalized. New methods are appreciated and we have studied all the basic and standard reasons why a website is penalized.

Background story:

* It's a gambling / poker website

* Dmoz listed

* Penalized over 8 months

* Many backlinks and they have been checked and validated (no bad neighbourhood)

* No duplicate content

* Articles have not been copied by others

* When searching for the brand we are NO 1, but when adding a 2nd keyword to it which relates with our site we are not NO 1 anymore.

Please tell me anything that can help unrival this mystery...

But... Where is the URL?

No chance of penalization by the above list except BL, did u use any tool or double check the BL url may be some spam site. U did any hidden text or keyword?.how many BL and how long u took to build it?.

How u know ur site is penalized. if no traffic and loose the position dont think the G penalized u

 

Could be, but we havn't had any major text link campaigns in the last 6 months. So if the google system is capable enough we should already have reversed the penalized state and starting to move up again.

The site is 3 and a half years old so we have had plenty of time to build backlinks. In yahoo we have approximately 18000 backlinks in google just about 1.5% of what yahoo have registered. Though we know google doesn't show all of them.

We know that we are penalized because we get nearly NO traffic from google apart from brand recognition. We are not to be seen in google serps apart from 2 phrases out of several 1000 possible

Another way of seeing if you are penalized is by taking your domain name / brand name including a keyword from one of your major pages. If you dont even rank on the first page --- you are penalized.

For example: If I search for "digitalpoint commission junction" [brand name] + [subpage] i get that page ranked as number one. In other words digitalpoint is not penalized.

Im hoping we can discuss and perhabst get some ideas we havn't thought about yet.

Cause from what I understand this is more complicated than a regular penalization due to the long time of being out of the serps and that we have covered all the basics so far.
