Howdy all... not sure if this is the best place for it but oh well... here goes nothing.

I'm helping a friend to set up an estore for his traditional clothing business and was wondering which platform would be the best in your opinion cause after 2 weeks of researching, I'm left even more confused.

The ones I've found thus far with quite a lot of users are:
    1] osCommerce
    2] Zen Cart

Any other suggestions besides this 2 or if not, which of these 2 is better?

The thing I have to bear in mind is that my friend will be managing this store himself with his beloved family and they are not very internet or tech savvy which is why again the 2 options above cause I thought once its setup, he can just add his products and just focus on selling.

Thank you all in advance for your much appreciated advice.

    Warm regards,
    Daryl Lau

either one is good, i personally prefer oscommerce, if you have hosting with cpanel both osc and zencart can be installed via fantastico in a couple of clicks. if you need cheap hosting or osc help feel free to PM me.

Hi there Excalibur... (grand name there)

A webdesigner company shared with me that Zen Cart is better as its newer with better functionality. Is this true?

    Thanks again.

dary, i don't have experience with either although i've toyed with them a bit. I would say that it is a matter of preference. I actually prefer the feel of oscommerce.

I've been using oscommerce for quite sometimes, and had no problems with them. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use also. Other thing about oscommerce is that you have flexibility to 'extend' it's functionality, i.e. using CRE loaded (creloaded.com). Moreover, feel free to join OsCommerce's open source forum since it's one of the best forum to discuss anything bout oscommerce.

Best way to prove which is the best, is to try it out yourself ;) GoodLuck!

I set up a store for my farther, he had no clue how to use the internet and i showed him a few simple steps, he has now learnt how to use zencart effieciently, and is always taterring about learning new things, this is essential that the begginner knows what to do. Zencart is alot better. It also has lots of little mods.

    Thanks
    Travis
