Hey. My parents run a successful business in the UK making book stands. They are the number one supplier for man major companies, including WHSmith, waterstones and Sussex Stationers etc. The website is http://www.tympany.co.uk/ I would assume this website would have fairly high traffic though I am not sure, is there any way they could make money out of the website, through advertisement PPC etc. If there are not enough UVs, could SEO be done to make the website more popular? Any help much appreciated, Ricky
Hi Ricky, The first thing you should do is make sure that your page titles are all unique. Right now they are all the same - they all say Tympany. A good format for tage titles that I like to use is 'Keywords | Company Name', with each page having its own title. Be concise, don't just stick a bunch of keywords there. Secondly, there is no inter-linking between pages on your website. This is important because it helps search engines index your website. Thirdly, there is not enough content on the pages. You need to increase the content on each page by at least 50%. Hope that helps.
Your parents website is very SEO unfriendly, you should study keywords and link structure. Take a look around some forums and yo should gain enough basic knowledge to improve things.
if you have SEO or even adwords PPC on mind, yo will need to completed change the site layout and make it search engine friendly. there is no content on your main index site which is a big negative for SEO. search engines rank a site based on its content, onpage optimization, and backlinks. do a good keyword research and get some SEO content written by an SEO content writer or do it yourself if you are knowledgeable. you can use adwords keyword tool for keyword research and make sure you change the setting to English, UK which will give you stat for UK traffic. once you have done your keyword research, use the keywords to write your content. no site should start writing content without proper keyword research. as all the hard work might go right down to the drain if you are not picking the right keywords. the rest is either link building for higher search engine ranking or PPC advertisement for direct traffic. you have to add content and make your site SEO friendly to get your quality score high otherwise adwords will be killing you with bid cost.
I'm just wondering since the website is the official site for a business which is giving a good return, why do you need to place ads on the site and then risk losing visitors that might potentially drive business away?
That's the thing, the business really isn't giving a great return at the moment, so I am trying to find alternative ways of making some money. Thanks for everyones replies
For onpage seo, check out beginners guide for simple list of where to put your keywords and how to do relevant code. Also build up backlinks with a mix of anchor text - do not use all the same anchor text or you risk a penalty. Also consider a site redesign - your home page is unlikely to rank well on Google as it has no content! It just has a picture and some menu items. From a visitor's perspective, the picture doesn't tell me what the site is about, there's no slogan such as "leading supplier of high quality bookends" to tell me. It sounds harsh, but I wouldn't read any further. Once I get into your Products page, there's no photos of the bookends - instead I just have some meaningless (to me) code numbers with a small sketch (no description) that comes and goes on hover. Check out other websites for examples of how to use both visuals and words to sell your product. Note that you need seo to get people to your site but you then need good design to get them to read through and - ultimately - buy. Hope some of this is helpful - it sounds critical but it was meant to be constructive!!
though your website is great in looks...it still need some SEO work...and nothing much would be changed and fcrse you will find a good return too
