Need advice on my new algorithm for compression

I have a new algorithm for compressing data .(like Zip)

I have tested it and the results were good too..

    Original size:2.71 MB
    Results:
    Zip format:2.33 MB
    My format:2.40 MB

I believe this format can be tweaked to achieve more results

My problem is whether I should reveal it or should make a software on my own so it does n't get hijacked big organizations

I do n't want those big organizations to use this technique within their organization but I want this to be beneficial to people..

    Results:
    Zip format:2.33 MB
    My format:2.40 MB

    What should I do now?

So ZIP is better, not your format.

And RAR is alot better than Zip.

So unless you don't pack 2MB file into 1MB then i don't see any point working on it.

This is an algorithm and I think many can come out with tweaked versions of it to improve the compression efficiency..

Ive coded a compression alghoritm once but also not quite effective as zip. Supports multi files and similiar. The sourcecode is on sourceforge if u want to take a look at it. quite a few people use it.
