Need Advice on Domain I Bought

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by DeniG, May 5, 2009.

I registered the domain webbytime.com a few days ago, planning to create a social site or forum. I did not realize until afterwards that there was such a thing as the Webby awards.

Now I am trying to decide if I just got lucky or screwed up royally by choosing this domain name!

What should I do with it, knowing what I do now?

There is a website for Webby Awards, so I am trying to learn if I did a good thing or bad thing by choosing webbytime.com and what suggestions you might have about what kind of site to put there, or if there would be a copyright issue.

Unless the Webby awards is a large event i doubt you would have much trouble in the way of copyright, especially if your website has nothing to do with the awards.

On the otherhand, you could try and contact the company behind Webby awards and make some money off the domain.

I thought about that, but it's against the law.

I guess it's according to who you are as to whether they are important or not, some call the Webby Awards 'the Oscars of the internet"

I was actually thinking about making a blog all about the awards since learning what I have on my hands. What they hey? Maybe it would be turning lemons into lemonade?

hey my thoughts is that webbytime is a pretty cool name :) now is just what to do with it.

You should look in to webby awards and get information from that site see what they offer. Maybe you can do something that is relevant. You said a forum or social site. I believe a social site would be good.

    The name is catchy :)

    Thanks, I think so too!

I am thinking maybe I will start a wordpress blog and use the review site plugin, do a review of the Webby Awards. That would probably give me the most link juice. I'll see how it goes and maybe later start a social site or forum.

Either way, I am getting stoked that I ended up with what looks like a valuable domain.

I don't think you can find any more article to review about the awards thingy.
Instead, you should continue with the thing you have planned earlier which is to setup a social networking site.
