I've launched a bunch of Easystore's selling niche product like www.2008Software.com & jewelryandwatches.org in the last 2 months selling Amazon products and have gotten some sales so I'm fine with that- these stores just sell the product listed in the URL. The reason I'm posting is, based on the success of someone on this board, I decided to have a store that duplicated Amazon's stock almost totally on everything. Just to make things clear, I did this on my own and wasn't nudged into doing this from the forum member but I was influenced by his site which I'm saying not as a bad thing. I've gave my site what I thought was a great name OrderItDiscount.com and to date it has been an absolute bust. As I can alter the program on this to sell 1 niche product if I like instead of the many and change keywords to reflect this, am I better off changing to 1 product even though the URL name has nothing to do with the product. IE, OrderItDiscount.com does not refer to the specific product I would be selling. Would this hurt me alot with Google rankings. I can't move the program for this URL to another URL name for reasons I don't want to get into now. Or am I just better off leaving it as it is selling many products and hope for some sales? Whew PS I can't spend any more time and money improving what I have I'm not into good money chasing bad.
Hifi, I think you can do ok even if you don't have a domain that reflects the items you sell. Look at the name GoDaddy for a second, has nothing to do with domain name registration other then the fact that the company has built a brand around the name and does a good job at domain retail. That being said, I believe I can say yes, you can use a domain name with none of your keywords and still be successful. I would probably want to add that if you have a choice in the matter, including keywords in your domain name is always an added benefit, but not a deal breaker. Hope this post was helpful. thanks, PuReWebDev
They also had "mucho investment dinero", and marketing team, and a few Super bowl Ads to kick things off. But yes it is fine, especially considering the amount of decent domains left to be had. I would rather stick with an existing, indexed domain, than start with a fresh one, unless you find something really nice.
Exactly, you don't need a url with the exact product you sell, there are plenty of sites out there that don't work that angle.
