Guys, I am trying to understand how to properly interpret the data from Google Analytics and cant find reasonable explanations to what I see. Specifically: - direct traffic: the data shows the direct traffic to be at just over 60% for the last couple months. went up to from 40% if i look at YTD traffic, so my first thought was that it should be all good, more people have learned about the site and now come to it directly. BUT, - at the same time the percentage of new users is very high - ~92% and has been consistent YTD. this is confusing as i tend to think that most of those direct traffic folks would be returning visitors.. - time on site vs. length of visit: average time on site seems to be at a stable 1:30 mins, yet around 60% show "length of stay" at 10 sec. or less. However bounce rate is around 45% for the last couple months vs. 60% earlier in the year... If someone could offer logical explanations it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
That sounds like a problem with analytics to me. Hard to say without knowing more specifics, and I'm not an analytics expert, but it sounds like the code isn't loading properly so isn't showing referrers.
thanks, Magda, could this be a sign of some "creative technique" to drive traffic? if it was a paid traffic what would it look like?
Well that sounds impossible. The mistake has to be somewhere but without taking a good time to look into it makes it hard to tell you a good reason for your stats. I will try to give you a better answer tomorrow when ive had some time to look into it im bored anyway ;P
