I am almost finished with a product I will be offering on one of my video game websites covering the highly popular Legend of Zelda series. We are working on completing a line of video walkthroughs and strategy guides that will be available free to download from our website, YouTube, and a few other video hosting sites (such as Google video). We will also be offering an alternative to downloading, which will be the full quality DVD set that we will be selling (we aren't selling for much, just mainly to cover cost of shipping and DVD media). We aren't looking to make a profit from selling the DVD guide, though I'm sure it would generate great income (I've never really had interest in making much off this particular site, its been a great hobby for me and I love working on it). I would, however, like to make some money to help support the site and contests (we have giveaways at the site). The site currently is sitting on a dedicated server which isn't too cheap (considering I dont make much to begin with). I am offering advertisement solutions in the video guides and am looking to catch a few advertisers / sponsors. There are many different placements and options open, and will need to be in contact to explain and show them. Ofcoarse, this opportunity won't benefit everyone. Businesses related to technology will probably see the greatest benefit (video games, DVD, computers, and so on). Here's a bit of info for anyone with interest ... Downloadable videos will be re-coded, which will lower the quality slightly and the file size will become smaller (dont really want to host 1 gig videos). Can provide sample of the encode quality (medium quality, 50+ MB file size). Logos and adverts will not be effected by this. DVD Media will be perfect quality. Will also allow for advertisements to be sent out with packaging, in DVD casing, and even on the DVD itself. Site receives a few thousand visitors a day, mostly from the US (second highest from UK). I randomly asked a few visitors via PM if they would have interest in downloading the video guides / watching them streamed, and paying for the DVD and there was many mixed input. Quite a few were interested in buying certain guides (also will give VIP status in forums), while others would only download for free. I will be releasing a site wide survey to find better results, will provide details from that. Advertisements will be limited, and I will be taking serious reservations.
