Ok I know all about Alexa....but Alexa does not show actual visitors or hits to a site....it only shows traffic rank and page views....it there a tool/site that will tell me xxx.com got 146k hits last week?
HitWise shows the numbers but not actual (from a sample) ...but the subscription is not something a average webmaster can afford
most Web servers collect much of this data into log files. By default, a log file for a site is stored in the root directory, and is compiled automatically as visitors pass through a site.
I know alexa and google trends (for websites) may not be the most accurate tools but I still use them to compare my sites to others. I know actual numbers for my sites and difference in trends can be used to get the numbers for competitor's sites.
Data that can be used for competitive intelligence is hard to come back. There are various data sources, some are free while others are paid. The data obtained is only going to be estimates unless you have a tracking code embedded into your competitors website (which is highly unlikely). I wrote a newsletter on competitive intelligence about 2 weeks ago. You can find it here for more information: http://www.kneoteric.com/knowledge-base/newsletters/complete_intelligently.html Hope this helps.
hhmm, i don't know if this is accurate, and i don't think not but well might as well try it though: http://www.statbrain.com/
