I need a WordPress plugin that is compatible with WP 2.6 and 2.7 at a minimum. The purpose of the plugin is to allow the user to select which categories on their blog they wanted to feature. The plugin would output a link to the latest post in each of the selected categories. For example, if I had 20 categories, but I really wanted to emphasize the posts in 3 of those categories I would tell the plugin which three categories, and wherever I placed the code on my site it would place three links - one to each of the latest posts in each category.
