Everyone knows that we can import posts n content (from other blogs like blogspot, livejournal, etc) into a wordpress blog, by running a simple inbuilt script.

    Problem:
I have more than 50 good running blogs, all with 100+ posts.
I can import them easily into my wordpress blog. Butthe thing is that they all are imported into one catoegary, that is uncateogarized. Now i can't go on and edit those 5000+ posts and put them under specific cateogaries :(

so i was just wondering if there is a plugin thru which i can import all the post from a single blog into one cateogary in wordpress blog and other posts from a differnt blog into another catogary and so on.....

    Please help me on this.
Wud like to have this set up soon. Very soon ;)

i use FeedWordPress for something like this. Although it says it can categorize the posts, it can't since it says that the feature is "depreciated".

Now, why this is - i dont know. But if this feature is "depriciated" within Wordpress and not just FeedWordPress - then you are going to have a hardtime finding anything.

Anwyay to make a long story short - I have a plugin that is supposed to do it, but doesnt... and i havent been able to find any replacements either.

:( I think i have to do this the hard way :(
imagine, importing some 5000 posts into ur blog: piece of cake
But then, editing each and every post and place them into particular cat. : Will take almost an year.

I Hope there is a way out!

On a test site FeedWordPress handles categories fine for me. My problem with it is that it includes the entire entry and not just an excerpt. So I can't use it for my project because it would turn me into a content pirate.

Ok. I can't find any such plugin. And neither could anyone else. Now is ther any alternate solution. Something like managing posts, clicking the check boxes of differnt posts and grouping or moving them to a different category.
Or anything which can solve my problem?

I tried editing each n every post and putting them manually under different catogaries, but i think it will take me atleast an year to put all those posts into appropaite places :(

    Someone please help me!!

My recollection of getting FeedWordPress to do this is blurry.

I think I setup a list of links in the usual fashion. I added each site I wanted to import from to the links list. And by assigning each link to a link category I set the default category for it to go in. At least that is what I did for Blogger blogs.

For weblogs that had their entries categorized I just let FeedWordPress use those categories.

I was fooling around with this months ago and that is all that I can remember.
