I believe I asked this question before but I guess I'll post it again since I didn't get a valid response. Is there a way to figure out whether or not a sale was generated from Adwords? I'm currently getting visitors to WholesaleDistributorSecret.com from other sources besides Adwords. I've been making sales in the past couple of weeks and I don't know whether or not those sales were generated from my paid or free advertising. I'm sure there has to be a way. Please help somebody!!!! I don't want to spend a lot of money into Adwords if my sales aren't really generating from there.
Install google analytics in the website. You can link your analytics account with your adwords account. This will allow you to identify traffic coming into your website from the adwords campaign. You can tract visitor trends, what pages they visited, etc...... In the google analytics account set up a Goal ( more information on goals here ) funnel using the thank you page generated from your shopping cart. (if you need help with this feel free to PM me). If you set up the goal funnel correctly you will have the ability to identify what keywords from the adwords campaign converted to sales, what the conversion rate is, etc.... Hope my info helps additional information http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Analytics/thread?tid=7ff5626fdf863d04&hl=en http://www.e-junkie.com/ej/help.tracking.htm
You could also use the Conversion Tracking within Adwords. It works well for me. All you have to do is paste the conversion code into the proper page and you can keep track of them. You will have to define the proper page to paste that code in. It is usually in the success page that people see after they have completed an order. Good Luck.
Yes it works if you are using the content network. You can find the conversion tracking code for adwords by clicking on conversion tracking under campaign summary. You would then need to setup a new action. For Analytics you need to click on Analytics and then add a website profile. It is all very clearly explained in the help documentation. I was able to set it up on the first day using nothing but the help documentation. Good luck.
Thanks. I just added the code. Now does the code track one sale per IP address or will it count multiple sales if the same person reloads the page with the tracking code over and over again?
When someone clicks through your ad a cookie is placed on their computer. When they reach the page with your conversion code and they have that cookie on their computer you will receive a conversion. Of course this means that if they have their browser set to not accept cookies then you will not record a conversion.
